摘要：

Prompted by the recent success in deep artificial neural network optimization techniques, machine learning has been finding ever more applications in solving practical pattern recognition and data mining problems. In this talk, I will review the key techniques behind deep learning, some of its success stories and current limitations, and analyze its potential and bounds. I will also point out the job market in this field for university graduates and also conjecture on important research issues in future machine learning.

个人简介：

万毅，1992年从西安交通大学获得信息科学与技术学士学位，1993年赴美国学习，先后从Michigan State University获得电气与计算机工程专业硕士学位和数学专业硕士学位，2002年从Rice University 获得电气与计算机工程专业博士学位，并先后在美国贝尔实验室、美国大分子成像国家中心工作。 万毅2005年来到兰州大学工作至今，被聘为教授、博导，研究方向包括：信号与信息处理、人工智能、嵌入式系统与机器人技术、计算机图形学、无线通信。
